Leukocyte numbers (1,000 cells per m l) were determined from whole blood as described in Methods. Absolute numbers of leukocytes for high-stress versus low-stress subjects are shown. CD3+CD45RA+ (naïve) and CD3+CD45RO+ (memory) T cells were identified by using three-color flow cytometric analyses (FACSCalibur, Becton Dickinson).
All P values were not significant.

Lymphocytes include T cells, B cells, and natural killer cells.
