Cover image: Excessive nitric oxide generated by inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) has been implicated in diseases including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease. iNOS expression is controlled by a translation mechanism involving the protein eIF2α. Yellow/green-stained cells express an activated form of eIF2α that leads to increased iNOS expression. Red-stained cells express only iNOS. The blue/purple stain represents cellular nuclei. See the article by Lee et al. on pages 4843–4848.
