Cover image: The sophisticated olfactory system of male moths enables the remote detection of a pheromone emitted by females. The wild silkmoth, Antheraea polyphemus, expresses a pheromone-degrading enzyme specifically in the male antennae. This enzyme is essential for the rapid inactivation of the pheromone, allowing male moths to sustain odorant-mediated flight toward a calling female.
