Cover image: The genetic code is the fundamental alphabet of life. This code, once thought to be universal and the same for all forms of life, shows a few enigmatic deviations between different species, e.g., bees and feather stars. One of those anomalies may be a primordial adaptation to aerobic respiration and oxidative stress, which results in a high concentration of methionine within the mitochondria.
