Movie 1. This video shows 800 sec of the linear track experiment in Figs. 1-3 in which the point process adaptive filter algorithm (Eq. 3.3) was applied to simulated hippocampal place cell data. The adaptive estimate of the neuron’s firing rate is represented by the green curve, the true place field by the yellow curve, the rat’s position on the track by the yellow dot, and the spike occurrences as red vertical lines. The vertical bars on the x-axis are spaced at 10 cm, whereas the horizontal bars on the y-axis are spaced at 10 spikes/sec. The adaptive estimates were updated every 1 msec.
