The Dynamics of Change in Multiethnic Societies Special Feature
The large urban centers of the modern world are generally heterogeneous, multiethnic societies. Immigrants come to these settlements looking for better living conditions and for work opportunities. This Special Feature explores the dynamics of change in past multiethnic societies from a wide variety of historic scenarios, with an eye to understanding how cooperation and tensions between different ethnic components generated social transformation.
